Am I the only who finds its strange that Schenn was not named to Team Canada for the World Championships, while G, Simmer, Couts and TK were?

Should we read into this at all, considering Hexy is the GM and Hak is an assistant...

      Probably not...

      this is the Canada roster:

Below is the full roster as selected by Hextall and the Canadian management group, which also includes former Flyer Sean Burke:
      • Goalies: Eric Comrie (Edmonton/Winnipeg, NHL) and Calvin Pickard (Winnipeg/Colorado, NHL)
      • Defensemen: Tyson Barrie (Victoria, B.C./Colorado, NHL), Calvin De Haan (Carp, Ont./New York Islanders, NHL), Jason Demers (Dorval, Que./Florida, NHL), Michael Matheson (Pointe-Claire, Que./Florida, NHL), and Josh Morrissey (Calgary/Winnipeg, NHL)
      • Forwards: Sean Couturier (Bathurst, N.B./Philadelphia, NHL), Matt Duchene (Haliburton, Ont./Colorado, NHL), Claude Giroux (Hearst, Ont./Philadelphia, NHL), Alex Killorn (Beaconsfield, Que./Tampa Bay, NHL), Travis Konecny (Clachan, Ont./Philadelphia, NHL), Ryan O’Reilly (Varna, Ont./Buffalo, NHL), Nathan MacKinnon (Cole Harbour, N.S./Colorado, NHL), Brayden Point (Calgary/Tampa Bay, NHL), Mark Scheifele (Kitchener, Ont./Winnipeg, NHL), Wayne Simmonds (Scarborough, Ont./Philadelphia, NHL), and Jeff Skinner (Toronto/Carolina, NHL).

Do you leave Simmonds home to bring Schenn? How many Philly forwards do you put on the team? A lot of redundancy in the Canadian forwards...

What about TK ahead of Schenn?

Good experience for TK, Schenn has played on a number of those teams.

Konecny could do to play a but more and with high end talent he had a choppy go with Hakstol this year...BSH wonder if he is already scratched for the tourney..heh

If you want to move Schenn you showcase him not exclude him...

Maybe he doesn't want him to get hurt before the big trade

Better be a good return for a 25 year old who's top 50 in Goals and points over the last 3 years...
...and top 5 in PPG top 20 in PPP in the same span...

As you mentioned, Schenn has played in this tourney previously, so not the end of the world for him. Also, his skill set isn't required on the team, with what they already have.

As for showcasing him, i don't think he needs to be showcased anymore. He is a known commodity. And i believe any return for him would be substantial (not in the Duchene level...but close).

Yeah, Rob Blake is the new GM, John Stevens the new coach. Keeping it in house in LA for now.

Curious what the orange and black color scheme will look like on Canadian National Sweaters
