  • Hartnell Buyout

    Umberger Buyout by Flyers:
    2016-17: $1.6m
    2017-18: $1.5m
Had 1 year left at the time of the buyout

    Hartnell Buyout by Blue Jackets:
    2017-18: $1.5m
    2018-19: $3.0m
    2019-20: $1.25m
    2020-21: $1.25m
Had 2 years left at the time of the buyout

I'd say the Flyers ended up ok in this regard. Hextall got a lot of flack for this move, but it really was a smart move.

Not to mention the BJ's had to give up a first rounder partially because of Hartnell's NMC.

Pass...he's everything the Flyers are trying to get away from.

        Average (at best) skater!
        Average (at best) hockey IQ!
        Poor defensively!
Poor decision making...consistent lazy penalties at the worst time!

        Easy decision...no!

          That ship has sailed.

However, there are rumours the Flyers are courting Justin Williams. Probably speaks to the leadership void on this team...

That would be great , get the start and end of his career yet the prime and most productive years were with other teams.

Acquiring Williams now would have more to do with planting a winners mentality in this team loaded with youth. Our vets have not really won anything, so anything to create a winning culture for the near future is a good move. Would you be against this type of signing?

Where are the Justin Williams rumors coming from? I like Justin Williams but he is getting a little long in the tooth. And if you do bring him in, where are you going to play him ... on the 3rd line next to Couturier.

Yes. Or second line with Patrick and Simmonds..

There's value in adding a legit top 6 veteran to this roster...problem the Flyers have is a lot of bottom 6 grown ups and top 6 kids...
