I wouldn't be so annoyed with the losing as much if it wasn't for how the team plays. We get pushed all over the ice every night. And don't tell me it's the personnel. Simmonds doesn't play nearly as tough as he used to. No one does. And it's not about fighting. It's about answering the other teams physical play with your own instead of just skating around like it's pick up hockey. The team moto is slap us around, we'll do nothing about it. I've seen more intensity in Men's league games. I'm sick of it. It's an embarrassment. And then you have decisions like what is happening tonight where we have to watch Manning play instead of Morin for who knows what reason. Heaven forbid he actually gets a chance to play some games and learn on the job. If we are losing that's the kind of losing I can stomach. And it's also not like we can't use his size and physicality.

So he should sit for a couple of games because he hasn't helped much over the last 10 games.

          - Losing 7 in a row (what's acceptable - 8, 9, 10?)
Losing? Let's define losing. Losing typically results in ZERO POINTS...

Not winning in OT, still generates a point...in fact many people rant about that extra point you can get if you get it in the Shootout....

So it seems like losing in regulation....and losing in the sideshow that is OT and the Shootout are obviously and vastly different things...in one you got 0 points, in another you're guaranteed at least 1...

          - Winning only 29 out of your last 75 games
They're playing game 24 tonight...how have they won 29? How have they played 75?

oh you're doing this weird thing where somehow last year matters.

Ya know what might have helped this team win a few more games this season? keeping that guy so many of you insisted couldn't play center and who's PP points weren;t as meaningful as Even Strength points...but please go on..tell me more about the 29 wins in 75 games..it seems relevant...accept that players and coaches have changed...

I honestly don't care what happened last year as it pertains to wins and losses this year...but that's certainly a dramatic number...I guess the Penguins get an automatic bye to the Stanley Cup finals to defend to right?

          - Constantly blowing leads
Yup..only coach to ever have a team blow leads...probably has nothing to do witht he number of rookies playing D...or the lack of any scoring depth beyond the first line (see above, guy no one liked because PP specialist..or some bullshit..)

          - Playing a #7 d-man 24 min a game? (see Manning)
Every rookie can;t be Provorov...and when your two vets are hurt and suspended for 10 games for being a dumb ***..not really sure what you want the coach to do....it would be better fi they lost while spreading out those minutes a little more evenly?

The only dman in that game that didn't play at least 17 minutes was Morin...and he and Manning led the defense with 2:59 on the PK...

So the gripe is that Morin only played 15:28? i can't tell you why Morin only got 3 shifts in the third period and none in overtime...

But I also can;t tell you why Hextall returned him to the AHL at the end of camp...and I don;t recall nearly as many people being upset and undone about it..

I can;t tell you why the "Morin issue" seems to be a organization problem and not a hakstol problem...

          - Nightly bizarre lineup choices (the selection of players during the NYI 3 vs 3 OT game was a joke)
I personally wish he would choose McDavid and Matthews more frequently...

..oh wait..right...he has what amounts to some really shitty veterans, some very green rookies...a handful of guys in Simmonds, Giroux and voracek that clearly from year to year (you like those comparisons) can;t be counted on...and Couturier...who finally blossomed. Man why cant he make better choices...

We're literally pretending hakstol has some deep choices he's failing to account for...he doesn't...this team is not good...

          - Scratching young players for vets (Weal & Leier out tonight for Lethera & Weise small example)
You just got done complaing about the 7game losing streak...and now you're complaining that he's literally playing the two guys he has to swap into the lineup...

Holy crap...what do you want him to do..negotiate a double secret trade behind Hextall's back? Forge a signature and stealth fax it to the league?

          - Playing uninspired & lethargic hockey
Remind me what Pond hockey Pete's hockey did....that was exciting..fast paced...and short of the one year (half year) they didn;t really play his system..they went nowhere...

Is this all on Hak, I don't know? But please don't tell me how he doesn't wear any of this...the above are basic coaching duties.
The above are basic coaching duties?!? Yeah. And you're bitching..you want it both ways..you want to complain about the losses..and then bitch when he literally only has two players to try and shake things up with..so it's either underperforming youth...or god awful vets...the Morin thing very clearly goes beyond Hakstol...unless you think coaches dictate to GMs...the "losses" that yield points arent really losses...because they yield points...if this team;s going to lose..I much prefer they do so in OT...or better still the shootout so everyone can feel better about losing in the sideshow...and getting a point for it

We can point to teams like Pits and Wash with their struggles, but we should also ask why Gallant has been able to lead an expansion team to first place? I have a hard time accepting we are once again a lottery team which currently sits in 26th place...
You have a hard time accepting we're a lottery team...while at the same time complaining about the roster Hakstol has to work with....

This roster sucks. They traded away a perennial 20 goal scorer and a big piece of their power play...for a guy who's career goal total is 30...IN 232 GAMES

          So stop...stop right now....Jori Lehtera's career numbers...are 232 games, 30 goals and 102 points...

you say...you don't know if it's all on Hak...

          Was that Hak?!

Schenn's put up 35 goals and 85 points in the last 103 games, He was 61st in scoring in the NHL last season..for perspective Giroux was 52, Voracek 39, Couturier 215...Wayne Simmonds was 67...and for true Perspective...Schwartz was 64th....and Jori Lehtera? 326th.

But yeah...let's try and figure out if this all on Hak

It's a young blueline...and an offense that lacks punch...last year this team needed more than Voracek, Giroux, Schenn and Simmonds...this year....it has Voracek, Giroux, Couturier...but Simmonds has been hurt and slowed...and there's no Schenn...even if Simmonds were going at full bore...they're still in the same spot as last year when it comes to O depth...and that was a lottery team...

Patrick was never supposed to be a Matthews or McDavid so believing he steps in and puts up Schenn like numbers year one...hell...it's taken Couturier how long?

this team isn;t that good..I'm sorry...

and no..it's not Hakstol...it's a process...they'd suck with Scotty Bowman and Roger Neilson assisting Shero...the pieces just arent all together yet...

Yay...we got another point. I really hope this continues and we keep hearing about how the problem is with everyone but Hakstol. Hakstol is perfecting mediocrity.

never thought I'd say this but I miss Brashear...I agree we are getting pushed all over the ice...and I never thought I'd say THIS (especially after all the Bobby Clarke "Big Good") jokes...but we desperately need some nastiness and size...

it might be time for a Brashear type trade..Weal, Leier, Lehtera, Weisse...trade one of these, or more than one and get a guy who will answer back for all these hits we are taking...

and I'm starting to sour on Hakstol myself and Voracek...Hakstol: it almost seems like he dissuades physical play and for every pretty goal Jake scores, he makes way too many bonehead plays...if we are out of it at the deadline..I'm all for moving Jake..for whatever we can get...hell I'd take Hartnell back at this point...at least he was feisty

In the last seven years it's been Stevens fault (took team to ECF), Lavy's fault (took team to SCF after taking over for Stevens), Berube's fault, and now Hakstol's fault.

We're not even averaging 2 years a coach.

At what point do you guys start feeling embarrassed and realize the players you're throwing in with aren't that good?

I've got guys in this thread who couldn't wait to tell me when JvR scored a goal...but who also insisted Schenn was a one trick pony. Weird how that was totally wrong..on both counts..but I should totally buy how it's all Hakstol's fault.

You either are invested in the Patient Process Hextall has talked for years.. and you all lapped up and demanded not be criticized...(don't make me pull threads, just own it).

Or you don't have the stomach and they need to start selling off kids to add vets to make that all important run for a wild card playoff spot..

                  You can't have both.

I just love how the Pens put 50 shots on net and that's Hakstol's plan..it's not the limitations of the current roster..

Some of you really think this roster is good enough to compete right now..and that's hilarious..

That they keep getting points is a ****ing good thing...you as if getting 1 point a night is bad..you act like this young team with no real firepower outside the top line and a blueline with a 3rd year, 2nd year and two rookies all with solid potential...taking teams to OT bad..

They could be ****ing Phoenix or last year's Colorado..or the goddam Sabres..

You guys are ridiculous in your expectations and worse with your blame..

Take the players Hakstol has available to put together a game day lineup and show us how you do better...and back it up with some kind of numbers/projection..

You want to cash checks on projections and ceilings...that's not how it works..

So what you're saying is Simmonds was playing tough, physical hockey under Hakstol before he got hurt? Don't be obtuse
