    GDT: Flyers @ Rangers

    7:30 PM EST

This is a tough one. The Flyers have beaten the Rangers twice already this season, in stretches when they were not beating anyone else. The Flyers have won four straight. But the Rangers are generally good at home. Philly played last night, and the Rangers have not played since the long break. Advantage Philly in the first period.

Stolarz will probably be the deciding factor. But even Pickard got a shutout in his appearance vs the Rangers. This tour of the Flyers vs the league's backup goaltenders may be tiring, but the Flyers have not put a #1 in against the Rangers yet this year.

Starting to wonder if this season is going to be more like '09-'10. They had 55 points at the 50 game mark that year. They squeaked in over a very low bar to make the playoffs at 88 points.

The commentary crew last night was saying only one team has every made up a ten point gap to the last playoff spot at the 50 game point. And it was a standout year for a goalie that made it possible.

The #2-5 seeds in the Metro are all on losing streaks now. 7 in a row for the Caps!

    Hockey is weird.

Facing backup goalies happened in 2006 2007

The controversy thing was just a joke about Philly fans.

Five wins in a row has been fun to watch.

I can't ever remember the Flyers facing so many backup goalies in consecutive games...talk about disrespect!

Stollie I don't think is a #1. His rebound control is still pretty bad, and he often loses the puck tracking it and flops around. How many times did the Rangers either hit the post or miss on empty nets last night? Nice that luck has turned around for the Flyers but I wouldn't get too enamored with 1 win by Stolarz. If he can pan out to be a solid backup for Hart that would be awesome.

problem is that so far Stolarz has been Neuvirth Jr.

It would be nice if Stolarz can lock up the NHL back-up position by the end of this year so that there needn't be a controversy (and over-payment) in free agency this summer for some other goalie.

Or maybe creating goalie controversy, by getting a shutout before Hart. That would be so Philly.

It was weird hearing Pierre heap praise on a Flyer. The NBC crew always seem to stan for whoever is winning.
They are giving us a glimpse of next years goalie duo. Hart is gonna be #1, zero chance of controversy.

How.can.it be a controversy when both guys have played less than 20 NHL games? Stoli played great, enjoy it.
