• Small Lehtivuori update:

He was injured in practice a couple of days ago and is expected to miss the last game of the season which will be tomorrow (tuesday). He should be back when the playoffs start (next weekend I think, can't find excact dates anywhere...).

Lehtivuori's team Tampreeen Ilves will take on either Lukko Rauma or TPS Turku in the first round (which is not actual first round but a best of three playoffs between 7th and 10th and 8th and 9th, Ilves is 8th and can't get higher nor lower).

• Good job, lynchmob!

Here's game by game stats for Lehtivuori's playoffs games. I'll try to find something better if I can. He has played two games but that page seems to only have stats for his first game...

Päivä = Date (dd.mm.yyyy)
Ottelu = Game
Erä = Period (why is this even there?)
M = Goals
S = Assists
P = Points
Jäähyt = PIM
Peliaika = ToI

Oh and you have mis-spelled Tolpeko.

edit: I was reading Ilves fans opinions about Lehtivuori and there was some debate wether or not the Flyers will lose his rights this summer. I believe they will if he is not signed. Anyone know for sure?

IMO he should be signed but it would be propably for the best to let him play one more season in Finland before bringing him over to the Phantoms.

• I watched the Vermont / New Hampshire game this weekend and I couldn't believe what a physical battle it was. JVR was a late scratch with the flu, but a very entertaining game anyway.
Beat it John Mustache...your a nitwit an a dope

• Sorry about the incorrect spelling (thnx for catching this JPS!). I'll have this updated.

As for Lehtivuori, i was under the impression that this rule didn't exist for Europeans playing in Europe. The signing limit, from what i remember, was for players playing in North America.

I'm probably wrong on this...but maybe someone can clarify this.

As far as I know with the new CBA player drafted from Europe must be signed within two seasons after the draft. Russians are excluded because they have not signed the NHL-IIHF-agreement.

Some teams have made deals with European based players that allow them to play the first year of their contracts in Europe and come over to NHL/AHL in the second year.

The NHL-IIHF agreement is currently non-existent. Both sides cancelled the deal in december, the NHL because of the high fees and the European Federations due to the exodus of young talent from their leagues. Since then have been meetings and discussions, but there isn't a new agreement so far. There is a good thread on that topic at another board: International Hockey Forums

With regard to the Flyers prospects it means that there is currently no need to sign our european prospects (Bodrov, Popov, Lehtivuori and Kovar) from the 2005 entry draft. As long as there isn't a transfer-agreement, we will keep their rights.

• Hmm...I must have managed to miss that they cancelled the agreement. Or maybe it's early dementia.

Good to know that these players are "safe" then. I really do think that Lehtivuori can be a atleast a good second pairing offensive d-man. Like Timonen-lite. But I also think it would be best for his development to play at least one more year in Finland.

On other Lehtivuori news: his playoffs will continue at least for four more games. Ilves defeated Lukko Rauma in the first round of playoffs and will now match against Kärpät Oulu (near dominant winners of the regular season, Ilves won't most likely play more than four games...)
