  • Strader to co-host Phantoms radio show

Starting Monday* you can fill your hockey craving with some Phantoms talk on Q-101.7 FM. The team’s flagship station will be broadcasting a three-part season preview on Monday nights between 6-6:30 p.m.

Maybe the most exciting part? The show will be co-hosted by Dave Strader, former voice of the Adirondack Red Wings, and current play-by-play man for the Phoenix Coyotes. Strader also does work for NBC. He called the Winter Classic from Wrigley field this season. (For a story I wrote this winter about Strader’s experience, click here).

Current Phantoms broadcaster Owen Newkirk will be the other host. In addition to the upcoming Phantoms season, the pair plan to talk some old-school Red Wings hockey.

Scheduled guests include former Adirondack Red Wings head coach Bill Dineen, former mayor Ed Bartholomew, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, Phantoms coach Greg Gilbert, defenseman Michael Ratchuk and co-owner Rob Brooks.
