  • Backlund, Nodl returned to Phantoms

The Flyers have sent Johan Backlund and Andreas Nodl — remember him? — back to the Phantoms.

Backlund, 28, was recalled for the second time this season on December 8 and served as the Flyers backup goaltender for their last five games. As a Phantom, Backlund has a 6-8-0 record, with a 2.81 goals-against average, 0.903 save percentage and two shutouts in 15 games. The Flyers could send him down after they signed Michael Leighton on Tuesday.

Nodl, 22, has appeared in 10 NHL games and has one assist for the Flyers this season since being recalled to Philadelphia on November 22. In 16 games with the Phantoms, he has three goals and one assist for four points. Over parts of three seasons with the Phantoms (2007-08 to 2009-10), Nodl has registered 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) and 26 penalty minutes in 58 regular season contests. Nodl will be replaced in the Flyers lineup by Blair Betts, who is returning from injury.
