  • Flyers sign Tanner Laczynski to ELC

    Laczynski has spent the last four seasons at Ohio State University where he compiled 143 points with 48 goals and 95 assist through 138 games.

    The Philadelphia Flyers announced today they have signed center Tanner Laczynski (Luh-ZIN-skee), the club's sixth-round pick (169th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, to an entry-level contract. according to President of Hockey Operations & General Manager, Chuck Fletcher.

    Below are news & notes on Laczynski:

    PREVIOUS TEAM: Ohio State (Big Ten - NCAA)
    DRAFTED: 2016 (6th Round, 169th Overall - FLYERS)
    AGE: 22 (6-1-1997)
    BORN: Shorewood, Illinois
    VITALS: 6'1", 205 pounds
    SHOOTS: Right

    * Has spent the last four seasons at Ohio State University where he compiled 143 points with 48 goals and 95 assists through 138 games.

    * Served as alternate captain in his senior year and led the team in scoring with 34 points, which T-3rd in the Big Ten Conference, and 23 assists, which ranked second in the conference.

    * He also led the team, as well as the Big Ten, on the power play with 17 points, including 14 power-play assists.

    * Laczynski has led Ohio State in scoring in two of his last three seasons and was named First Team All-Big Ten in 2018 and is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete.

    * Internationally, Laczynski helped TEAM USA win a gold medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships, appearing in all seven games and recording two points (1g-1a).

    * In his draft year (2016), he ranked fourth in scoring in the USHL with the Chicago Steel and Lincoln Stars posting 63 points (24g-39a) in 52 games.

    "Tanner has completed an excellent college career at Ohio State University and we are very excited to have him under contract," said Vice President & Assistant General Manager, Brent Flahr. "He plays a mature two-way game, he's a proven leader, and we see him as a versatile forward for the Flyers organization going forward."

    Awesome, he will be a solid bottom sixer for us who can score and play a solid 2-way game. Everyone thought the Flyers weren't going to get this deal done.

      Are we still needing to sign Wade Allison? How about that dman who was sent back to the WHL (is it Wyatt Willie)?

        Another good article regarding Laczynski.

        Jordan Hall confirms Allison is not yet signed (neither are Linus Hogberg and David Bernhardt...two forgotten Swedish dmen).

          Good to get this kid inked. I have high hopes that he can become an excellent 3rd line, shut down center with a little scoring punch.... like Laughton
